MBE Welding runs a fab shop and puts crews in the field. We're hiring welders and fabricators who take the trade seriously — people who can lay a bead that looks as good as it tests, and who'd rather build something than watch a machine build it.

We hire off the weld test and the work you've done, not off how the resume is formatted.

Two Roles, One Crew

Welders — production and structural welding in the shop and on job sites. Repair, buildup, structural connections, and whatever the job puts in front of you.

Fabricators — reading prints, laying out, cutting, fitting, and welding assemblies from start to finish. You own the piece from print to paint.

Most of our people do some of both. Tell us where you're strongest and we'll build around it.

What You'll Run

• Processes: MIG (GMAW), flux-core (FCAW), stick (SMAW), and TIG (GTAW) depending on the job
• Materials: mild steel, structural shapes, plate, tube, stainless and aluminum on select work
• Shop equipment: shear, press brake, iron worker, band saw, drill press, plasma and oxy-fuel cutting, grinders, overhead crane
• Positions: flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead — field work doesn't let you pick

The Job, Day to Day

• Read and work from shop drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication prints
• Lay out, measure, cut, and fit up material to tolerance
• Weld to spec and to code where the job calls for it
• Tack, fit, square, and check your own work before it moves down the line
• Grind, clean, and prep welds and finished assemblies
• Set up and tear down field welding rigs and leads
• Rig, sling, and move material safely with crane and forklift
• Maintain your machines and keep the bay in order
• Wear the PPE, ground the work, watch the fumes and the sparks — every day, no reminders needed

What Gets You Hired

Required

• 2+ years welding or fabricating for a living
• Proficiency in at least two processes — MIG and stick at minimum
• Ability to read a tape to 1/16" and work from prints and weld symbols
• Ability to pass a hands-on weld test
• Your own hood, gloves, and basic hand tools
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in tight spots, and handle heat, cold, and weather in the field
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Willingness to work some out-of-shop jobs with travel pay
• Ability to pass pre-employment screening

What moves you up the range

• AWS D1.1 structural certification (or ability to certify)
• TIG proficiency, especially stainless and aluminum
• Pipe welding experience
• Layout and fabrication from complex prints — full assemblies, not just parts
• Fitting experience
• Overhead crane, forklift, or rigging certification
• OSHA 10
• CNC plasma or table experience
• Blueprint or CAD reading beyond shop drawings

The Weld Test

We'd rather see you weld than talk about welding. Come test, and we'll tell you the same day where you'd land in the range. Bring your hood.

Pay & What Comes With It

• $22–$32 per hour — where you land depends on your test, your certs, and your fitting ability
• Overtime available, and there's usually plenty of it

Shop vs. Field

Our base is in the Marietta area, and most work runs out of the shop. Field jobs come up regularly and go out to whoever's available — expect to be on the road some of the time, with travel covered when you are. If you want mostly shop or mostly field, say so and we'll do what we can.
